In his latest work, Pete Jones combines three images from the series Makro Money with a biblical quotation (1st Corinthians 13).
The special nature of his photographs means that nothing is added to the original banknotes (no photoshop collage), yet a new perspective is created on what already exists.

Die Banknote von den Bahamas zeigt auf der Vorderseite Queen Elisabeth II. und auf der Rückseite bunte Fische in einem(r) Riff / Unterwasserlandschaft. Der offizielle Queen Titel lautet: „Elisabeth die Zweite, von Gottes Gnaden Königin des Vereinigten Königreiches Großbritannien und Nordirland und ihrer anderen Königreiche und Territorien, Oberhaupt des Commonwealth, Verteidigerin des Glaubens“. Und tatsächlich, der Glaube an das Königreich und an die Queen scheint trotz Brexit und dem drohenden Untergang des Commonwealth ungebrochen.

The official Queen title is "Elizabeth the Second, by God's Grace Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and its other kingdoms and territories, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith". And indeed, the faith in the Kingdom and in the Queen seems unbroken despite Brexit and the impending downfall of the Commonwealth.

Göttin Ina ist auf einer Banknote der Cook Islands zu sehen. Nackt und nur mit einer Kokosnuss im Gepäck möchte sie zu ihrem Geliebten Tinirau, dem Gott der Fische. Der lebt auf einer weit entfernten Insel und Ina kann weder schwimmen noch hat sie ein Boot. Trotz aller Widrigkeiten ertrank Ina nicht. Sie hielt sich an der Rückenflosse eine Haies fest und der König der Haie brachte sie schwimmend zu ihrem Geliebten. Sie heirateten und lebten glücklich und zufrieden auf einer schwimmenden Insel.

Tinirau, the god of fish. He lives on a far away island and Ina can neither swim nor has a boat. Despite all the adversity, Ina did not drown. She held on to the dorsal fin of a shark and the
king of sharks took her swimming to her lover. They married and lived happily on a floating island.
HOFFNUNG | HOPE
Die Banknote aus Polen zeigt auf der Vorderseite Jarosław Dabrowski, ein polnischer revolutionärer Demokrat, Führer der „Roten“ im Januaraufstand von 1863 in Polen und 1871 Oberbefehlshaber der Pariser Kommune in Frankreich. Nach der Teilnahme an der polnischen Unabhängigkeitsbewegung wurde er von den Russen nach Sibirien verbannt. Nach seiner Flucht ging er nach Frankreich; wurde General der Pariser Kommune und fiel beim Barrikadenkampf am Montmartre in Paris. Auf der Rückseite der Banknote ist eine Frau an einer Wand lehnend zu sehen.
The banknote from Poland shows on the front Jarosław Dabrowski, a Polish revolutionary democrat, leader of the "Reds" in the January Uprising of 1863 in Poland and commander-in-chief of the Paris Commune in France in 1871. After participating in the Polish independence movement, he was banished to Siberia by the Russians. After his escape he went to France; became general of the Paris Commune and fell in the barricade fight at Montmartre in Paris. On the back of the banknote there is a woman leaning against a wall.
"Through his unprecedented way of looking at banknotes a crossfix is created in the background of the picture in the work 'HOPE'. In combination with the depiction of the 'freedom fighter' on the banknote and the current political development in Catholic Poland, a new image emerges in the viewer's mind: 'democracy is nailed to the cross'. This development can be observed in many countries and is often legitimized by economic reasons. How long an economically networked world can still afford poverty depends on the attitude of mind. Whether democracy can function at all in highly indebted states, this answer lies hidden in the triptych." P.Jones
